Year 9 Remote Learning - 28th & 29th September 2020

Year 9 Remote Learning 28th & 29th September 2020

Re: Year 9 – Remote learning – Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th September.

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to inform you that due to forecast staffing shortages this week, pupils in Year 9 will need to work from home on Monday 28th September and Tuesday 29th September.

We have a number of staff who are self-isolating as a precaution; the majority of these members of staff are due back in school later on this week.

Pupils in Year 9 should arrive to school as normal at 8:40am on Wednesday 30th September.

We are very sorry to have to do this, but we cannot safely have our remaining year groups all present on site at once. I apologise for the very late running of this communication, the change in the school’s staffing situation came about late on Saturday evening.

All pupils in Year 9 are expected to log into their Google Classroom account and follow their normal curriculum timetable as though they were at school.

All their teachers, including those who have also been asked to self-isolate will be delivering lessons at the time scheduled according to their timetables. Some of these lessons will take place via Zoom links and others will involve audio teacher narration.

Pupils will be expected to submit their classwork at the end of the lesson. They will be able to upload images or directly email the teacher with the work. The work will be assessed as per normal and feedback given to pupils.

If your child does not have access to Google Classroom via a computer or mobile device, please would you contact the school:

Parents and carers can opt-in to receive weekly updates about the assignments and deadlines for their children.  If you would like to receive updates, please complete the following form:

NB. If you are already receiving weekly summaries, you do not need to complete the form.

Please be assured that we are working hard to ensure that we are able to limit the negative impact this pandemic has on the education of our young people.

Yours faithfully,

J McQuaid

Head Teacher
