Primary School Transitions

Leytonstone School operates a 6 form entry for 11-16 year olds (180 – 210 places per year group). Due to our location, we are easily accessible for all of Waltham Forest including Leyton/Leytonstone, Walthamstow and Chingford. We are also commutable for Wanstead, Snaresbrook, Woodford and Stratford based students.

Admissions to Leytonstone School are managed by the Local Authority. Year 6 students wishing to join Leytonstone School should follow the transition guidance from the London Borough of Waltham Forest to select their school placements and return the forms to the admissions authority by the published date.

If your child wishes to transfer to Leytonstone School mid-term, please contact Waltham Forest Admissions Service using the appropriate information here. We are unable to accept any applications for a school place directly.

Where a school is oversubscribed the following criteria are used by the admissions authority to decide upon the intake for the school:

  • Statement of special educational needs
  • Medical conditions
  • Siblings currently attending the school
  • A son/daughter of an employee of the school

For any further information please contact Waltham Forest Admissions at https://walthamforest.gov.uk/content/applying-secondary-school-place

We look forward to you becoming part of the Leytonstone School community.
