History

Course Content

The History course is concerned primarily with the political history of Britain, Europe and the world in the 20th Century and allows students to build on their knowledge and understanding of their work in KS3.

The syllabus is divided into modules:

  • International Relations 1918 – 1963; including causes of World War 2, causes and development of the Cold War
  • Russia 1914-1924; from Tsardom to Communism
  • Hitler’s Germany 1929 - 1939
  • USA race relations 1955-1968

Two pieces of coursework undertaken as a controlled assessment:

  • Britain in World War 1
  • Britain in World War 2

Method of Assessment
The course is assessed by two exams papers at the end of Year 11 and by two pieces of coursework, completed in Year 10.
