Introduction

The GCSE Art and Design syllabus requires students to complete coursework that equals 60% and a final exam which equals 40% of the final GCSE grade.  During the course, the students will investigate and research art, craft and design in different times, contexts and societies.  This will be integrated into practical experimentation and interpretation of materials, processes and techniques.

Aims

Art aims to develop students’ creative and imaginative ability.  It enables students to reflect on their experiences and gives them the opportunity to express their views, opinions and judgements on the world around them.
