Re: Year 11 Support Evening: Thursday 9th November 2017 4.30 – 6.30pm
We are currently eight weeks into the final year of your child’s secondary education.
In just seven months, pupils will be sitting their final GCSE exams ready to embark on the next phase of their learning journeys.
This may seem like a scary proposition for your child, but it is also an exciting one. This year provides the potential to achieve great things.
At Leytonstone we want all students to achieve the best possible results. To ensure this we need to make sure that we continue to work together in supporting pupils towards that same goal.
The year ahead requires hard work and we understand that you, as parents, may have questions or concerns.
On Thursday 9th November we would like to invite you into school to meet with the Year 11 team to discuss your child’s progress and any support that they may need in order to help them to fulfil their potential.
At the support evening you will have the opportunity to speak with heads of core subject departments about the curriculum your child is following and the forthcoming exams. You will also have the opportunity to speak with your child’s form tutor who will provide you with information about your child’s current attainment and support and interventions that your child might need heading into this busy exam period.
I really hope you can come along and look forward to meeting you in person on this evening.
Thank you all for a wonderful start to the 2017 academic year. We have seen a marked improvement in both uniform and in students’ preparedness for school in terms of equipment and school bags. Thank you all for your support in this matter.
As Friday is the end of half term, we will finish at 1.20 – there will be no period 5. Lunches will be provided for students who would like one. I would like to apologise for not reminding parents of this earlier – if it creates any problems for any family in terms of child care, please do contact the school immediately. There are ample staff on site to look after your child if required.
Friday is not a non-uniform day and students should be in full school uniform as usual.
School restarts on the 30th October.
A copy of the presentation by Mr Thompson is available below with all the information you will need to know for the Kingswood trip.
As our Year 11 students get ready to start submitting applications to college and sixth forms, our careers team have compiled a list of upcoming dates and times for various colleges/sixth forms open evenings/days in and around the borough.
For more information please go to our LRC.
This is a chance to meet your child’s Form Tutor to discuss how well they have settled into secondary school. Meetings are for 10 minutes and should be booked on the following site:
Your Y7 child will only need to come to the appointment with you. They are not required to be in school for the remainder of the day.
